Tole & Teddy

This picture didn't turn out very well, either, I'm afraid. But, this is a piece of tole painting I did in the 1970s. ...I loved tole painting not because I was any good at it but the women that took the classes were really special and it was nice just to be a part of that group. The teacher was a REAL artist who did commissioned landscapes and they were gorgeous. We were only allowed a few colors of oil paint for any project and had to learn to mix colors. This was an invaluable lesson for me as I could at one point match up any color which helped me repair or restore any number of things when I got in the antique business. The bear..."Blue Bear"...was from my bear stage in the late 70s-early 80s. I gave most of them away.

Purple Quiltop finished...ahead of schedule

This was supposed to have been a watercolor pattern but by the time I figured out it wouldn't work, I already had the fabric cut up into 2.5" strips. I wish the colors would show better because this top really turned out pretty. I'll try the watercolor effect when I'm a little smarter.

I can't believe how long it has been since I added to my quilt blog. They say time goes fast when you're having fun but I haven't had much of that lately....much be another appropriate saying I need to check into. This is a Civil War quilt block someone put together by hand all those many years ago and it is still in very good condition. I have a couple more but not the right size frame
for them. The Sandman poem is from the 1980s...I did it because it is such a great piece to have in a bedroom. I use to really love cross-stitch and still have a couple of small Xmas ornament projects going. I am finishing some for this year that I started about 3 yrs ago.
